The Basic Linking Pattern
In Korean spelling a syllable can end with a final consonant called 받침 .
When the next syllable begins with a vowel-initial particle or ending the final consonant is heard at the start of that syllable. A similar connection can appear inside a word such as 음악. This is a sound connection not a spelling change.
